Dear TK Families,
We’re very excited for our Christmas Program this Friday, December 21st at 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Please pick up your child from our classrooms after the performance instead of from the Hall, we want to make sure everyone is safe and accounted for after the performance.

*PM TK Students: On Friday PM TK students have the option to stay past 11:30, but they will be taken to daycare and you can pick them up from there. Also, please be sure to write your child’s name on any nap supplies.

It takes several weeks to complete the process so if you’re thinking about it, please contact Lily Lobasso at llobasso@stischoolcypress.orgso she can get your paperwork started. We love having parent helpers and we don’t want anyone to miss out!
There is an optional homework link where you can download some supplemental activities for your child. The purpose of it is to provide enrichment for those students who need an extra challenge. It is not mandatory, you can work at your own pace, and you don’t need to turn in your child’s work. It is located in the at home practice folder and the link is: https://goo.gl/mURoYa.

Dear TK Families,
Today the red HOPE bags are coming home, please place any non-perishable food items that you would like to donate and bring them to our classrooms(not the lunch tables for just this collection) on either Wednesday or Thursday morning. We’ll be taking them to our Thanksgiving prayer service on Thursday, our students will be able to see what the TK and K classes collected and that we can come together to help others in need!
Our classes have been enjoying sharing time each week with items from the alphabet letter we are focusing on. Starting this week, we’ll be using a rubric to help guide your child while they are reading their clues. We’ll be watching for being ready to share, staying on topic, looking at the audience, and speaking clearly and loudly. The same areas are assessed in kindergarten, your child will receive a copy of the rubric filled in the week following their share day.
This Wednesday, November 14th eat at the Habit Burger Grill located at 5968 Orangethorpe in Buena Park for a tasty fundraiser! The Habit will donate 20% of all sales from dine-in or take-out orders.

Week 8

Dear TK Families,
We look forward to meeting with you this week for parent teacher conferences. Since our rooms are used for the PM TK students, Mrs. Marshall’s conferences will be held in the library (in the first room in the building directly behind the school office) and Ms. Rozak’s conferences will be held in the atrium (next to room 1). We will be going over your child’s progress so far this year and setting goals.

This week we will be starting our sharing homework. We’ll have 3 or 4 students share each week and a bag will be sent home with your child along with the directions. You will work with your child to find one item you have at home that starts with the letter we are working on. It will need to be able to fit inside the brown paper lunch bag that we send home and you will discuss and write down 3 clues for your item. Please have your child practice saying the clues and work on projecting their voice. On Friday, the students will bring their bag back to school. Your child will give the class their 3 clues (we will help them say their clues, they do not need to be memorized) and the class will guess what the item is. It’s a fun way to learn more about the letter of the week and to have your child practice speaking in front of the class.

This week there is a St. Irenaeus “Tasty Trifecta” Dine-out. On Wednesday visit Dairy Queen 9951 Walker St. from 11AM-10PM, on Thursday head to Pieology 9543 Valley View St. from 11AM-9:30PM, and on Friday dine at Panda Express 5825 Lincoln Ave. Buena Park, from 10AM-10PM. A percentage of the sales will benefit our school!

Just a reminder that we’ll be having our St. Irenaeus Halloween Parade next Friday, October 26th. Students can come to school in their costume and afterward we’ll be doing some fun Halloween center rotations. A sign-up for volunteers will be coming this week, we hope that you can join us!

Have a great week and thank you for trusting us with your child’s education.
