Lenten Grams

Dear TK Friends and Family,

Since we are in the season of Lent, St. I is selling Lenten Grams for $0.25.  If you would like your little TK to send a Lenten Gram to a friend, send money in an envelope or zip-bag with a note stating "for Lenten Grams" and state to whom they would like to send the Lenten Grams to.  For example, if your child Paige would like to send a Lenten Gram to their friend Jason, please write "Lenten Grams To Jason (Grade K) From Paige".  This way we do not have any confusion.

All proceeds will be donated to Operation Rice Bowl.

Happy Friday!

TK Newsletter

Dear TK Friends and Family,
This week we are learning:

  • how to write, the sound, and words that begin with the letter Pp
  • count to 100 by 10s
  • count to 18 and write 18
  • read the words "at", "in", "the", "see"
  • our book this week is "In the Garden"
  • that Lent is a time to say sorry, be kind to others, and pray
  • this is our week 2 on presidents because it begins with the letter Pp.
  • George Washington in our first president
  • we are reciting our February poems
  • 5 senses
During Lent, we reflect on serving others.  As an opportunity to help and serve others, today you received a "Rice Bowl" collection box provided by the Catholic Relief Services.  I ask, just like during Advent, to have your child "work" for extra change.  Teach them how to serve others by doing extra chores or helping a family member with a task.  The money collection is due by Holy Thursday.

We will be celebrating Caleb's birthday tomorrow!  Happy Birthday Caleb! :)

Next week, we will have special visitors in our classroom.  Please welcome the WCEA/WASC team if you see them.  Remember, there is no school this Friday (Feb. 27) to give all teachers times to work on their classroom and also next Friday is a no school day, too.  Enjoy those Fridays off!

I submitted the Scholastic Book Orders and they should arrive in a week or two.  If you missed the deadline, I will be passing out the March Scholastic Order forms next week and give you time to select books.

I will be updating this website with pictures/videos soon! I can't wait to share them with you!  But for now, enjoy this short clip of our Religion prayer.  We were learning about how Jesus is not just friends of other people, but our own friends too.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Paragas

Trial and Error

Dear TK Family,

It has been a huge Trial and Error type of year trying to get this website done.  I created this website with the intentions of having all of you use it.  I want to thank Makayla's mom for being my "Tech Tester" as I called her.  I hope you'll find this website helpful for the remainder of the school year.

Most of the important information will be found under the category "Current TK Families".  This section is password protected because I may share information or worksheets that I have created that I would not like accessible to the public.  I will be sending you an e-mail with the password.  Since this is our class website, if your child is part of the "do NOT photograph list" (which you submitted to the office at the beginning of the year), no photos or videos of him/her will be posted in the public section of the website.  Monthly presentations will be posted in the private (password protected) section of the website.  I do ask that you do not share the password with anyone outside of our class.

While the website is functional... there are still many things I need to add, tweak, and fix.  The calendar has been my worst enemy!  I will need to get some tech help to see why selecting "public" isn't making my TK Calendar public.  Do you by any chance know?  If you're a "techy" person and would like to help, let me know and maybe you can swing by and take a look at my calendar some time after school.

SCHOLASTIC Book Order
I will be linking the Scholastic Book Order page to the website.  If you would like to order books for the month of February (which was sent home on Friday with a FREE $5 book with a purchase of at least $10 coupon attached to it),  I will be accepting orders until Monday, February 23.

Where did February go?!

That's it for now!

Welcome to our class blog.   The purpose of this blog is to inform the families of the TK class of any announcements.  I ask that you check our blog regularly.  Sometimes, I will post photos of work samples that we completed in class to show off what Smarties we are in TK!
