TK Newsletter

Hello!

This week in TK we will learn about:

  • thanking God for all the things we love.
  • different ways to pray
  • Letter and Sound of Ww (reviewing Vv)
  • Number 26 - counting to 30 (or more)
  • Identifying numbers review (1 to 20)
  • Solar System (planets, stars, moon) - They love this topic!!
  • Introducing Seeds and plants
I have a in-house field trip booked for TK with Inside the Outdoors.  This will take place on June 11. We will NOT leave campus.  As for now, I am not taking additional volunteers since I need to find out from Inside the Outdoors if additional adults are needed.  If so, I will reach out to you for volunteer opportunities.  This field trip will be about animals and their habitat.  I love Inside the Outdoors because their teachers present an outstanding hands-on lesson at the kids level.  I will provide you more details as I get them.

The end of the year is near, I ask that you review all letters, sounds, numbers, and the basic TK sight words.  Also don't forget color, shapes, patterns.  I will be assessing your child throughout May to chart their progress.

This Friday begins May.  Where did April go?!  During the month of May, we honor Mary our Mother.  I do ask that you begin to practice reciting the Hail Mary with your child.  At the end of May, I will be testing your child on the Hail Mary.  By the end of TK, I expect all children to know the following prayers:
  • Sign of the Cross
  • Glory Be
  • Our Father
  • Hail Mary
I will provide you with a better copy, but for now, here is the Hail Mary.

Please continue to read the school newsletter (which is emailed to you) as lots of school information will be on there.

Have a great week!

May Scholastic Book Order

If you plan to order from the May Scholastic Book Catalog which was sent home earlier this week, all orders are due by Friday, May 8.

I will send home the June Catalogs tomorrow... which are also due on May 8.  This is the final book order for the year.  This would be a great time to stock up on some summer reading books.

Have a great day!

TK Newsletter

Dear Family and Friends,

This week we are focusing on the following topics:

  • The Earth and the stars (sun) and planets
  • How can we take care of our Earth?
  • God's creation
  • The Earth is filled with more water than land.
  • Letters/Sounds: Uu and Vv (We are a little behind this week!)
  • Number 25
I wanted to share this YouTube video with you.  It has lots of pretty good songs that I will add to my class music.

Tomorrow is Pajama Day.  I sent home a reminder note with your child.  If you did not see it, you can download it from here.  It's really important to send your child in their school shoes for their own safety.

Thursday is St. I Family Night at Out of the Park Pizza.  Please bring the flyer that was sent home so that the school can get a percentage of your purchase.  Every penny helps the school...and in turn helps us in the classroom.  If you need a new flyer, please ask the office for extras.  The address 6038 Ball Rd., Cypress

[EDIT 3:24pm] Here is a PDF of the St. I Family Night flyer.

Portfolio Conferences are coming up for the school; however, this does not affect TK.  If you feel you need to have a conference with me regarding your child, please send me an email and we can schedule a date and time to meet.  If your child received a progress report and need clarification, please schedule an appointment with me, as well.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes.  Your child being in my class is one of the best presents I could ask for.  Thank you for trusting me.

Have a great rest of the week!

Your child's teacher,
Mrs. Paragas

Newsletter

Dear Family and Friends,

This week in TK we are learning about the following:

  • Jesus has risen!
  • Easter is a time to celebrate new life, to rejoice and be thankful.
  • Letter of the Week Uu
  • The vowel Uu has to sounds (long u and short u)
  • Sight Words Review - please refer to the TK sight words list
  • Number 24
  • The difference between a digit and a number.
  • The term "take away" (introduction to subtraction)
  • Life Science (living vs. nonliving; seeds and plants)
  • Reminder: No Share this month
Wow!  That's a lot of "smartness" going on my classroom this week.  I am amazed at how much information these little TK-ers can absorb.  I am feeding them as much knowledge as I can.  Some can understand it and some just won't be ready until next year and this is perfectly fine and normal.  Everyone in the class is absorbing the information that they are ready for and are able to share information about the topics covered at their individual level.  I am just so proud and amazed by how much they have learned thus far!

Tomorrow we will celebrate the Risen Lord with a mini Easter celebration.  We will provide a snack; however, you are welcome to provide extra snacks for your child.  Thank you to the parents that have volunteered for tomorrow.  I hope you are ready to have a crafty day!

A handout was put in your child's folder today regarding St. Irenaeus' Family Night at Out of the Park Pizza.  A portion of your purchases will be donated to the school.  I hope you are able to make it.  This will take place on April 23 from 4 to 11pm.

Address: 6038 Ball Rd., Cypress

I hope you all had a restful Easter weekend/break.  Again, thank you for all you do.
